Last night I pulled a stupid, which led to problems this morning. Or at least that's what I think happened, I might have hit my head and gotten cause and effect confusified.        On a normal night I try to get to sleep by about one (am). Last night (or this morning, depending on how you look at it) I didn't get to bed until 6. Sun was up, birds were chirping, and I was getting into bed. Havn't stayed up that l...

Yesterday was my birthday, yeah ra and stuff. I had a nice little party with my family, although I would have rather been sailing. Ok, not really, but as the visiting hairdresser pointed out, after 21 birthdays are just another day. I did get some presents though, which is nice. Bunch of clothes, a blanket, some candy, and RAM.        So I have this new stick of RAM, 512 megs of it. Well I go to install it and ...

So Galciv2 is out (as I'm sure you've all noticed by now). This is a good thing in many ways (even if it was temporarily bad for Joeuser ): fun game for gamers to play, (presumably) large piles of money for Brad to swim in, sense of accomplishment for the stardock developers, and best of all, now that it's out I can pretend they aren't busy while attempting to distract people.        I like Totalgaming.net , I'...

Today I have a cold. I think I had it yesterday too, and probably tomorrow as well. But today I can really feel it. Throat is all owwy, hurts to breath and swallowing is even worse. Nose is all icky and snotty, more so then usual. Eyes are doing that unpleasant burning thing they do.        So I could have some nice hot soup and spend the day in bed, or I could write this blog. Guess which one I picked &nbs...

Now I'm not an economics expert, but it seems to me that owing large piles of money is generally a bad thing. For individuals, busineses, and yes, governments too. So one of the most basic obligations of any government would be to balance it's own budget (or have a surplus, that would be fine too). From what I can gather the national government doesn't do this, and my local government isn't much better. So I've been thinking about how to encouragi...

I hear today is valentine's day. Which brings to mind some thoughts I was having back towards christmas time. Since so many of our holidays have lost their roots and become celebrations of commercialization, why not have seven holidays, one for each of the seven deadly sins. So far I've come up with three good fits for renaming existing holidays: Christmas becomes greed, since we have to spend as much as possible buying things for people, thus m...

I'm an idiot. Been thinking for a while that I should make sure that's on record, so here it is. No particular reason this comes up now, since this is nothing new. But it can't hurt to state things for future reference, right? That is all, move along.

Today she's out mowing the lawn somewhere, trying not to let the rocks and branches upset her. Perhaps this means she has a house of her own now, or maybe an apartment with a lawn, I don't know. In any case, from what little I can gather, she's doing well for herself. Since last I talked to her she's been promoted (twice?), taught class(es?), taken classes, and who knows what else (she would, but I don't). She is an amazing woman.   &nb...

My family left for a week or so last friday, leaving me at home with the menagerie. That's all good, but where it gets odd is that my mom told me to eat the jello. Which is fine, I like jello. But I've been having some difficulty handling the task.        We had about a dozen boxes of jello when they left. Putting the two cranberry ones back in the cupboard (because I don't like cranberries) that left me plenty ...

I am a grumpy old man. Yep, that's me.        But I try not to let it show too much, too often. Not much point to making anyone else grumpy as well, now is there? Helps make blogging harder, that it does. After all, wouldn't be fair to go on about how evil and wrong something is when I'm really not upset at whatever it is, it just happens to be a convenient target for grumpiness generated elsewhere. Can't be ha...
