Attack of the Kitten Monster
Published on April 17, 2005 By Danny Bassette In Pets & Nature
So a few weeks back (think easter time) my sister left a kitten with us. In all fairness we did know she was going to do this, it wasn't just an easter surprise. Now we have psycho kitten (but then again arn't all kittens psycho) running around the house. Is source of great amusement. But also has some oddness/ungoodness to it as well.
The litter and food are kept in the computer room. Apparently I'm the only one that thinks that's a bad idea, but then again I don't spend any time in that room so my opinion shouldn't count for much (my computer is in my room). The kitten isn't allowed outside because mom thinks it will run away/get eaten by the other cat/run over by cars/crushed by the falling sky/etc. Of course, she also doesn't want cat hair inside, go figure.
Before the cat (BC?) everyone would leave their doors open (except me, but I'm evil/antisocial that way), but now they close them to keep the kitten out. Not that I can really complain, I do the same, I just find it amusing. I was actually trying to leave my door open more because for much of the day I'm the only one here and I didn't want the kitten to be lonely. Course, then I found that the cat hair in my bed made sleeping unpleasant, so that idea didn't last long (that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it).
Apart from dinner the dog and kitten get along rather well, and often play together. But at dinner the dog is rather protective of her food and will growl at the kitten should it come near. Probably because the first night he was here he ate some of her dinner. She didn't know what to do about it either, but now she will growl. Although you'll have to be quick to catch it, she eats her dinner fast.
And I guess that's it for strange kitten tails today...

You got an evil kitten?? Awww that's so cute! lol
Sounds like everything is going through some radical change thanks to that little beast

The kitten isn't evil, not exactly, just crazy. But I think that's part of being a kitten, he'll grow out of it eventually. I just call it the kitten monster because it's funny.

Hehe...great blog!

Before the cat (BC?) everyone would leave their doors open (except me, but I'm evil/antisocial that way),

I loved that line.

The new kitty sounds fun (if a bit annoying in all its kittiness...hahhaha). Aren't you a sweetie for trying to keep it from being lonely!

Yeah some pets have a way of subtly controlling the entire household. This is a very familiar circumstance in my household (except in my household it's dogs that do it).

Funny thread Danny....
Hope you are well...missed you the past few weeks.
Try brushing the kitten regularly to keep the hairs off your bed, the sooner you start doing it the sooner it will accept it as a regular routine.
Enjoy!

Texas Wahine: Glad you liked it, I liked that line too.
Toblerone: That they do, and we've got a dog, another cat, and two chincillas as well. Regular zoo here
Manopeace: Hmm, brushing... That might work, I'll have to think about it.

Danny - careful! Kittens will scratch the living sh** out of you and not think twice. I was once punched in the eye by a kitten (who thought he was attacking my blinking eyes in the dark), who then scratched my leg as I got up to go check and see if m eye was ok. This cat was named Lucifer. Coincidence? I think not. Invite the devil in and all...

But I hope your kitty has been a little more fun. Any pictures to upload?

Cordelia: It's all fun and games until someone loses an eye? I've gotten my share of scratches over the years, but that's ok since the kitten is great fun. As for pictures... I'll see what I can do (or put differently, I'll see if I can talk myself into actually doing something for the five minutes it would take instead of being a lazy bum).

I'll see what I can do

I look forward to it, Danny! If you don't post for a while I'm going to assume the kitty got you.

Psycho Kitty!!!! I had a psycho kitty, but she died a few years back. She stalked deer, moles and my grandfather. Dang, I miss that cat. Enjoy the kitten. Get string. They love string.

We have a ping pong ball tied to a string that is then hung from the light on the ceiling. He enjoys swating at that. Also likes chasing the mouse cursor on the computer screen.
