Tales About the Refridgerator
So it's almost Christmas. My sister Adele and her husband Nate showed up last night and will be staying until Sunday. They picked Up Grandma on their way here as well, she'll be staying too.
Originally I was going to have to give my bed up for grandma to sleep in, but dad managed to find an old bed somewhere and grandma gets to sleep in it. I'm much happier with this arrangement. My bed isn't all that great, but it's a whole lot more convenient for me to sleep in it then elsewhere. Grandma doesn't do too well with stairs, so the bed downstairs is better then mine upstairs. And this way I'm not looking forward to them leaving just so I can get my bed back
Mom has been complaining about our refridgerator for a while, so we got her a new one for Christmas. Adele took her out to deliver cookies and such and while she was gone we switched them. Which was an undertaking.
First we had to empty the old one, get it out of the way, and bring in the new one. That went well enough, we got the new one filled back up and turned on and hopefully nothing went bad in the process. But then, well this is where things start going odd.
In the basement we have a spare refridgerator and a freeezer. So dad wanted to swap the oldest and the older fridges. Getting the older one into the basement was relativly easy, we took it around and through the outisde basement door. But the oldest fridge, well it's heavy. We couldn't just carry it out like we carried the other in. So after dragging it around and trying different things, we ended up strapping it to the dolly and dragging it up the steps. It almost didn't work, it kept trying to slide off the dolly. And when we got to the top of the stairs it did slide off the dolly. So we had this mostly upsidedown refridgerator that was trying to fall back down the steps. We ended up turning it completly upside down and flipping it over until it was right side up again. After that it was easy enough to wheel it away.
My brothers are all excited about getting presents tomorrow, mom is thrilled about the new fridge, dad is walking around like he broke himself, and grandma is just glad to be with family. And well, that's Christmas Eve at my house.
