Girl Scout Cookies

It's girl scout cookie time again (at least in my part of the world). Looks like they turned the lemon cookies of yesteryaer into lemon wedge thingies. Can't say it's an improvement, I liked those lemon cookies, but well, the wedges aren't bad. Otherwise looks like they have the same cookies as last year.
I was looking at the boxes and I got to be thinking. The boxes have these pictures of girls doing various scoutish stuff. So I was wondering if the girls were all part of one troop (den, patrol, whatever they call themselves). Is there this special troop somewhere that has the honor of being on all the boxes.
And then I wondered if they were even girl scouts. Some modeling agency could go out and put together a group of girls to pretend to be girl scouts all for the cookie boxes. Well I can put that idea to rest, I went to the girl scout website and found out that the girls in the pictures are indeed scouts, although it didn't answer the question of if they were all from the same mythical troop. I would expect any girl scout can send in pictures to appear on the boxes.
In any case, girl scout cookies are high in yummy goodness

That's a whole lotta thought you've put into that there, danny.
I never would have thought to check for something like that. Ah, but now we know (mostly anyway).
I'm not a huge Girl Scout cookie fan . . . I like the ones with coconut and chocolate and graham cracker . . . not sure what they're called. I usually buy a box or two to help support the local Girl Scouts.
I was a Brownie a long time ago, for a short while, and all I remember about it is that we had an activity where we shredded up a bunch of paper into bits and used it to make new paper. What was THAT all about?
Ah, well. Good for you for supporting your Scouts!

I'll bet your right, iamheather . . . THAT must have been what we were doing. The weird thing is that we used new paper to start with.

I believe those are called Caramel Delights. My favorites were the lemon ones, but they changed those so now it's the shortbread ones with the girl scout symbol on them, i think they are called Trefoils.

Oh, y'all have very poor taste. THIN MINTS. And those peanut butter yummies.
(Okay, okay, fine, have your own taste buds.)
Geez, I wish some girl scouts would come my way. I could do with some cookie comfort right now....

Girl Scout cookies are EVIL!!!
Oh sure, you see them at the mall with their little table with the stacks of boxes on them. The cute girls in their uniforms, reminding you of your own daughters. The “would you like to buy a box of cookies to help the Girl Scouts, only $3”. A statement that they manage to sound plaintive and filled with sweetness at the same time. And then comes the smile, and the blinding light reflecting off their braces.
You reach into your back pocket where the second phase of the plan kicks in. Each master salesperson er, I mean innocent Girl Scout grabs a different type of cookie box each one touting the wonderful qualities of their respective cookies. It’s too late for you now, they’ve set the hook and are just reeling you in.
So, you take 4 boxes thinking you will freeze a few and they will last you a few months. SUCKER !!!!!!
Oh no. You get a coffee or milk, sit in the chair, hit the TV, open a box take out three and close the box, saying to yourself. This is all I am going to have. SUCKER part 2.
Two hours later you’re on your third box and 2nd coffee.
So you go to the market to get a box of cheap oreos. You are not, you say to yourself going to pay that much for cookies again. You open the door to Walmart and …
They’re heeerrrreeee…..
IG
p.s. Those cookies are good though. I like the caramels the best.

They do things differently here, the girls come around with an order form and then a few months later the cookies arrive. Buying them at the mall, that would be scary...

Hmmm.... all girl scouts must not be the same. Here, in Canada, they are called Girl Guides. They sell cookies, but only two kinds: chocolate with chocolate icing, and vanilla with vanilla icing. Both are highly addictive, however. I don't think I've ever seen a Girl Guide soliciting at a mall, but they come out in droves to your home. At the most appropriate times, too. (right afterschool when Young and the Restless is on.)

The last time I saw the Australian version of girlscout or girl guide cookies (biscuits) they didn't have a picture on the packets, they had the logo only. A bit boring but I suppose it never changes so could keep printing costs down? Haven't had them for ages though, but the last time I did they had a new variety out some kind of chocolate with mint chips all through out...VERY ADDICTIVE!!! Much better than the original plain shortbread kind...

i too, am a big supporter of the girl scouts. i use to help a friend's daughter sell cookies every year by bringing an order form to work with me...people used to line up at my cube! my favs include carmel delights, peanut butter patties, and peanut butter sandwich cookies. btw, if you're a real girl scout cookie lover...never, NEVER look at the nutritional facts on the side of the box, merely looking at the stats could clog an artery!
